Coping with a failed IVF cycle is not easy. Clinics aim to maximize a patient’s chances by ensuring good embryo quality and optimal uterine conditions. However, sometimes even with everything seemingly aligned—healthy embryos, good endometrial lining, and a favourable uterine environment—success doesn’t occur, and the cause remains unknown. Unfortunately, science hasn’t yet discovered all the factors affecting implantation. While clinicians strive to help as much as possible, it’s essential to acknowledge that not every case will result in success, and unexplained failures do happen.
It’s sometimes very difficult to overcome a failed IVF treatment, therefore we can always ask for psychological help. Emotionally, it is very important to feel good before we do another treatment. Other things that we can do to increase our success rate is to check with our doctor if there are other factors that we could be looking at before another embryo transfer. For example, if we have done two or three embryo transfers without success, maybe we have to look at other factors such as uterine factors and immunological factors.
