Dr. Mara Simopoulou is an Associate Professor of Experimental Physiology and Embryology at the Medical School of NKUA. She is a Certified Senior Clinical Embryologist from ESHRE and a licensed HFEA Clinical Embryologist. She is Deputy Laboratory Manager of the Assisted Conception Unit at Aretaieio University Hospital. Professor Simopoulou is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of British Columbia. Furthermore, she holds an appointment as Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Research Department of Reproductive Health University College London (UCL) School of Medicine. She was awarded her PhD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology & Human Genetics from UCL, and was a Research Fellow specializing in Preimplantation Genetic Testing and underwent postgraduate training at Mount Sinai Hospital-New York. She has more than 20 years of experience in the field. Research activities focus on physiology of the Preimplantation Embryo. Professor Simopoulou has numerous collaborations on academic, clinical and research levels with University Departments, Assisted Conception Units and Hospitals, in England, USA, Canada, Malta and Greece. She has contributed with more than 60 research articles published in international peer-reviewed journals and has been invited as an honorary speaker in numerous conferences worldwide. Her personal mission in the scientific community is to contribute to the successful management of the challenging reproductive journey of infertile patients.
