The IVIg is a fluid that has concentrated antibodies in there. IG antibodies taken from somebody else. The key point is concentration. So, when I was reading about it, I realised that this fluid has a high osmolarity. Osmolarity means it is very dense, it is like you dissolve sugar in the water, the water becomes dense. Intralipid is exactly the same thing. I think I am the first that used intralipid in Europe back in 2008. I used it for that reason they selected to use the intralipid 20% because there are variations 10%, 20%, 30%. The solution with the highest osmolarity is the 20%. Let me give an example so you can understand what those fluids are. The one is a fluid packed with antibodies, small balls, let’s put it like that. This is what increases the osmolarity and the other, is another fluid, packed again with small balls but fatty balls, fat. So, I do believe, since I came from England, I have used IVIg very few times IVIg and I believe that there is no reason to use the IVIg because the intralipid works exactly the same way.
