Is there any way to avoid my child having the genetic condition?

2 fertility expert(s) answered this question

How to prevent my children from having the genetic condition?

If you or your partner have been diagnosed as carriers of a certain genetic condition that is hereditary, you certainly do not want that faulty gene to be passed on to your offspring. How can you avoid passing the faulty gene to your future children?

Pre-implantation diagnosis of the embryo checks presence of 2 X chromosomes and the absence of Y chromosome for implantation, guarantee the birth of an unaffected fertile female. Unfortunately, if it’s an X or a Y gene infertility defect, you don’t want a son that’s infertile because he’d have to go through the same process. To me, it seems a logical thing; have an unaffected daughter, but it’s up to the couple.
